Loren's tale is truly captivating. She and her cast of characters are very well-rounded, well-written, and truly a pleasure to get to know. Underrealm is a fascinating place, too. I highly recommend this and all Underrealm books to anyone that enjoys the fantasy genre.
So this series is awesome. At first I kept finding a kind of resistance to the main character Loren, a dislike of her that changed as I realized part of her character was this naive wanderlust idealist as she learns to be better along the way of her journey. Then my perception changed and I found her very relatable.This is an authentic fantasy experience by a masterful author with a keen eye on plot, description, characters, and dialogue.Each book kept getting better and better, building something great while being in the moment of any given scene was exciting and gripping.Author has a diverse cast of characters with clashing ideologies and worldviews. Highly recommend checking this out if you enjoy fantasy.
Well written, inventive, this epic sucks you in. I read the original books a while back, then read this updated volume, then listened to the audible version and will do so again. There are new details and Easter eggs every time. The appendices are a great bonus too! I'll be eagerly diving into the next books and looking forward to another big volume with audible upgrade.
I love this trilogy. This is the story of Loren, a young woodcutter's daughter. Along her travels, she meets friends, and has a knack for making enemies. She's headstrong, naive, and idealistic. I didn't like her at all at first, but she grew on me. The addenda is really nice, and quite helpful as it answered some questions I had about Underrealm. Every Garrett Robinson book that I have read, I've enjoyed. If you like fantasy, but this. You won't regret it.
A great story, or rather three great stories in one magnificent collection! Garrett Robinson is one of the best newer authors that I have had the pleasure of reading. He always keeps me wanting more and more!I can see his world, hear his characters, and feel their pains!I cannot wait for Garrett to come out with Volume 2!
I had been gifted the first two books by the author and purchased this set for the third book. I found that Darkfire, although very good, lacked the intensity of the first two books. I still absolutely love the story! I could not believe the ending and have already purchased the second volume to finish the story. I really appreciate the addendum material included in this set. If you enjoy fantasy, this is a wonderful choice for your reading pleasure!
I liked this from start to finish. The mc is different from most of this genre. I liked the world being built here and how things aren't always black and white. I look forward to more books about the Nightblade.
I really enjoyed this book series. I appreciate how well it was written and I love the smooth flowing prose.I was not a big fan of the dialogue. it felt forced and really cheesy in some parts. Also, book three was very slow. reading about the journey through the mountains felt like too much filler.overall, 5 stars for a well written book. it is easy to see the author put a lot of love into his characters and story.
