Good memory's if you have context. Would have been a good read if I shared the context of his memory s. This would have the same if I read anyone's diary, no context for the memory's. If he had pulled the memory's together such as they did with "Huey" or as Bob Mason did in "Chickenhawk", it would have been a better read and would have gotten a much better rating from me. I was there, so it's just my opinion.
The uncommon courage and dedication to their comrades in arms of those who served in Viet Nam should never be forgotten. The is a story of that dedication and courage.
The deeply personal view of someone who actually participated in the Vietnam war gave a vivid picture of what it was like to be there on the ground (and in the air). I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand the personal side of going to war for your country. The good and the bad.
Ups and Downs is a great read for any military veteran! The book is a forthright, detailed story of the author's experiences as an Army helicopter pilot serving in Vietnam.
This was a really good read. Told the authors real feelings and the ups and downs of the military.
Excellent book by someone who has been there and done that.
The book was ok but not great. Not many action parts but some. Wouldn’t really recommend this book.
Not the gripping story of current military historical fiction but a good detailing of what Lt. Sharpe sees in the rearview mirror. Nicely written, personal and authentic.
